Rea Vaya wants input from its users on how it can improve services. It has a number of plans in the pipeline and asks the public for opinions on these.

A SATISFIED and happy commuter is at the core of Rea Vaya; this is what makes the company stand tall above the rest.
And to make sure that it keeps up with the demands of its users, Rea Vaya is handing out questionnaires to commuters at all its stations.
The questionnaire lists a number of services that the company is thinking of introducing, and users are asked to tick the suggestions that they like best. They can also fill in their contact details at the bottom of the pamphlet to stand a chance to win a Lenovo laptop.
The pamphlets can be dropped into the suggestion boxes where they will be collected for a draw that will take on 9 November.
Some of proposed upgrades include adding heaters to all buses, luggage racks above seats, windows being positioned higher for improved airflow, wheelchair areas improved for easier access, and cameras fitted in all buses for drivers to ensure that passengers have safely boarded before driving off.
More upgrades are automated access gates for fast entry to the station, a monthly newsletter to provide feedback and keep passengers updated on developments, and an SMS service to commuters.
According to Rea Vaya's senior marketing and public liaison officer, Nomalizo Xabana, the survey will run until Monday, 7 November.
To further strengthen communication between the users and the company, Rea Vaya earlier this year introduced suggestion boxes at all its stations. These boxes are cleared on a regular basis. Passengers are encouraged to compliment or complain about the service, as well as make suggestions regarding what they would like their Rea Vaya to look like.
Rea Vaya, which means "we are going", offers fast, safe and affordable public transport on a network of bus routes across Johannesburg. It is a City project aimed at providing better public transport, reducing congestion on public roads, improving the environment and creating jobs.
Buses run along dedicated routes to ensure speed of service, while the enclosed stations are designed to be spacious and welcoming. A high-tech control room monitors the buses and stations.
