Rea Vaya routes are divided into:

• Trunk routes (marked with a T) – the main routes from one destination to another;
• Complementary routes (marked with a C) – that add extended, circular routes to the main route; and
• Feeder routes (marked with an F) – which are routes from outer suburbs that join the trunk route at a key station.

All are colour-coded for ease of use.

T1: From Soweto to Joburg CBD

At present, Rea Vaya operates one trunk route, between Ellis Park in Doornfontein and Thokoza Park in Soweto. Buses travel from Ellis Park East Station via the inner city, past the Orlando Stadium to Thokoza Park Station.

This route is coloured red.

C1: From the CBD to Dobsonville

Rea Vaya runs a route directly between Soweto’s Dobsonville and the City CBD. Buses travel from Ellis Park East Station down Market Street in the CBD, to Westgate and Orlando Stadium and then on to Dobsonville. The route starts in Dobsonville at Mashinini and Elias Motsoaledi and the return trip ends at Mashinini and Cele.

This route is coloured dark blue.

C3: Circular route through the inner city

The route travels from Chancellor House in Fox Street, past Wits University and the Joburg Theatre Complex in Braamfontein to the Johannesburg Art Gallery in Joubert Park, along Constitution Hill and back to Chancellor House.

This route is coloured turquoise.
