Work is underway upgrading the Rissik-Harrison streets section of the Rea Vaya Inner City Distribution system.
Working on the mixed traffic lane on the corner of Kerk Street
INFORMATION given on 12 May 2011. Scope of works – The Rissik/ Harrison section of the BRT upgrade is bordered by Smit Street on the north and Commissioner Street on the southern end for the Rissik section. The Harrison Section is bounded by Plein Street and Commissioner Streets on the north and south ends respectively. It will entail the upgrade of two of the existing mixed traffic lanes for the exclusive use by BRT buses on the section between Smit and Plein streets and a single BRT lane along Rissik Street and Harrison Street on the section between Plein and Commissioner streets. Three stations will be constructed on this section. Extent of works – Upgrade of Rissik and Harrison. The project forms part of the Inner City Distribution System (ICDS), the link will extend along Rissik Street between Smith and Commissioner Street as well as along Harrison Street between Plein and Commissioner Street. Construction progress – Construction works in progress or to be completed is as follows:
